Building a data culture in the entire organization will equip employees in operations, product, marketing, HR, and many other departments with the ability to fulfill most of the simple data queries and data visualization in a self-serve manner.
As managers, one of our responsibilities is to provide the safest workplace we can to those around us. This includes members of marginalized groups who are dealing with a rapidly worsening environment, folks who may be anticipating legal challenges, and people with families who are uncertain about their ability to keep their jobs and stay safe in their communities. How do we support our reports in this rapidly changing political environment?
Jobs To Be Done (JTBD), popularized by the late Dr. Clayton Christensen (among others) and written about recently by Jim Kalbach in his fantastic book, asks teams to develop a deep empathy for their customers through observation, research, interviews and data to understand what “job” these customers are trying to accomplish in a given scenario and what products they “hire” to get it done.
It is important to stay grounded when developing software. In your career, your reputation is the most important asset you possess. Avoid communicating to others a lack of mindfulness and immature work habits.
